Tiago Afonso is a photographer especialized in documentary and candid work, with deep Minho roots, born in a small village of around 370 inhabitants in Viana do Castelo, in the north of Portugal. His work is shaped by a strong connection to place, memory, and the quiet poetry of everyday life. Most of it is shot on black and white 35mm film, using two cameras: a Leica M6 with black and white negatives and a Contax G1 with color negatives
Inspired by iconic photographers such as Robert Frank, Walker Evans, and the Magnum Photos Agency, Tiago is dedicated to observing and preserving the subtle moments that define human experience.
Through a sensitive and unobtrusive approach, he seeks to immortalize the gestures, traditions, and cultures that make up the fabric of communities, creating images that stand as timeless narratives for future generations.
